In a shocking incident that has rattled the local community, unidentified thieves looted the Puraniganj Durgasthan temple, located in the Kasim Bazar police station area of Munger district, on Monday night. The brazen theft involved the theft of valuable worship items and a donation box containing cash.

Discovery of the Crime

The crime came to light on Tuesday morning when a local youth arrived at the temple for routine cleaning duties. Upon arrival, he discovered the gate lock had been forcibly broken, indicating a break-in. Immediately alerting the temple management authorities, the full extent of the loss was assessed.

According to temple management officials, the thieves made off with several expensive utensils used in worship rituals. Additionally, they stole the donation box, which contained approximately Rs 8,000 in cash collected from devotees. The total value of the stolen items is still being calculated, but initial reports suggest significant financial and sentimental loss.

Police Investigation Underway

Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team swiftly reached the temple to begin a thorough investigation. Rubikant Kachhap, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kasim Bazar police station, confirmed that a theft case has been officially registered. He stated that investigations are actively progressing.

"Police are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the culprits," said SHO Kachhap. "We are also questioning potential suspects and gathering intelligence on individuals with a history of involvement in similar temple thefts. Our priority is to recover the stolen items and bring the perpetrators to justice."
