In a shocking incident stemming from a prolonged extramarital relationship, a 25-year-old mother of two in Mumbai allegedly attacked her lover with a sharp weapon, causing grievous injuries to his private parts. The Vakola police have now formed a team to travel to Bihar in search of the accused woman, who fled the city with her two young children after the alleged assault.
The New Year's Day Attack in Santacruz
The violent episode unfolded in the early hours of January 1, 2024, at the woman's residence in Santacruz, Mumbai. According to police reports, the woman had invited the 42-year-old victim to her home under the pretext of sharing sweets to celebrate the New Year. The situation took a drastic turn when the man attempted to leave.
"When the victim tried to leave, she allegedly used a sharp object to slash his private parts. She just fled with her two children aged four and seven," stated a police officer familiar with the case. The injured man, bleeding profusely, managed to alert his son and brother, who rushed him to V N Desai Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to Sion Hospital for immediate surgery. Authorities have confirmed that his condition is now stable.
Seven-Year Affair and Rejected Marriage Proposal
Investigations by the Vakola police have revealed a complex backstory to the attack. The victim is identified as the brother of the accused woman's sister-in-law. The two had been involved in an extramarital affair for the last seven years.
Police stated that the accused woman had repeatedly expressed her desire to marry the man. However, he consistently refused to leave his wife and children. Tensions escalated further when the man's wife discovered the relationship, leading to frequent quarrels. In his police complaint, the victim stated that he had asked the accused to "understand the situation" given their respective family commitments.
Following this, the woman left for her hometown in Bihar but returned to Mumbai on December 19. The victim reportedly tried once more to reason with her on December 24, emphasizing that both had children and families to consider, before the fateful New Year's meeting.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
The Vakola police have registered a case against the woman under serious, non-bailable sections. She has been booked under section 118 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing grievous hurt with a weapon. This section carries a severe punishment, which can include life imprisonment or a jail term ranging from one to ten years, along with a fine.
To piece together the events and locate the accused, police are meticulously scanning closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area around her Santacruz residence to trace her escape route. The primary focus of the investigation has now shifted to Bihar, where a police team is headed to track down the woman and her two children.
