Mumbai vendor stabs hawker to death over wife's defamation

Mumbai: The Mulund police have arrested a 42-year-old vegetable vendor for allegedly stabbing a 31-year-old hawker to death on Saturday. The accused, Rakesh Dhiver, suspected that the deceased, Santosh Kumar Bind, was defaming his wife's character in public.

Incident Details

The fatal attack took place at around 9:30 pm in the market area of JN Road. Dhiver confronted Bind and stabbed him multiple times with a sharp object. Bind sustained severe injuries on his face and body. He was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead before admission.

Legal Proceedings

Vishal Bind, the younger brother of the deceased, filed an FIR against the accused. Dhiver was produced before a court on Sunday, and the police have demanded his custody until May 7 for further investigation.
