Mumbai College Student Traumatized After Alleged Hair-Cutting Assault by Friends
In a shocking incident in Mumbai, a 20-year-old college student was left traumatized after a female college friend and her accomplices allegedly cut her hair in Versova on Wednesday. The perpetrators also threatened to post a video of the act on social media, according to police reports.
Police Case Registered Against Three Students
Versova police have registered a case against three college students, aged 20 and 21, for allegedly pulling the victim out of her flat and cutting her hair while recording the incident. The assault occurred at 12:30 am when the victim and her domestic maid were alone in the flat, as her parents had gone out for a family function.
A police officer stated: "A probe has been initiated against the three girls based on the victim's complaint. The trio pulled the victim out of her flat and even threatened her when she screamed for help. The motive behind the act was found to be jealousy, as the main suspect believed the victim was having an affair with her boyfriend."
Victim's Account of the Harrowing Ordeal
In her detailed complaint, the victim recounted: "I got in touch with the 21-year-old suspect and her boyfriend through a common friend. On March 7, the suspect visited my home in Andheri (west) and checked my mobile, leaving when she did not find anything suspicious. At that time, I did not understand the reason behind her actions. The matter became clear when she, along with two others, visited my home at night and dragged me out of my flat by holding my hair."
Threats to Post Video on Social Media
According to police, the main suspect began cutting the victim's hair while the two accomplices recorded the act on their mobile phones. When the victim screamed for help, the main suspect threatened her, saying she could do whatever she wanted, but they would malign her image on social media by posting the haircut video.
Police Investigation Underway
Authorities are actively seeking CCTV footage to identify the three students who visited the victim's building and traced their route home before taking further action. The case highlights growing concerns about bullying and digital threats among young adults in urban settings.
