Motorcyclist Dies in Fiery Crash with Bus in Verna

A tragic road accident in Verna on Sunday evening claimed the life of a 32-year-old man after his motorcycle burst into flames following a head-on collision with a bus. The victim has been identified as Kevin Ishanti Pereira, a resident of Majorda and a native of Sangargali in Belagavi, Karnataka.

Details of the Fatal Collision

The incident occurred around 6:45 PM on Sunday when Pereira was on his way home from work. He was employed at a company in the IDC, Verna. According to the Verna police, the accident took place near the Santa Marble and Granite shop, close to Fr Agnel Ashram.

Police reports indicate that a speeding bus, allegedly being driven in a rash and negligent manner, collided head-on with Pereira's motorcycle. The bus was travelling from Margao towards Vasco at the time of the deadly collision.

Motorcycle Catches Fire, Rider Succumbs

The impact of the crash was so severe that the motorcycle immediately caught fire. Tragically, Kevin Pereira was charred to death at the scene. The sudden blaze left no opportunity for rescue, leading to the instantaneous fatality.

Police Investigation and Charges Filed

The Verna police have registered a case in connection with the accident. They have named the bus driver, Jakir Hussain Shaikh, a resident of Sancoale, as the accused. The investigation into the precise causes and circumstances is being led by PSI Mahesh Bhomkar under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar.

This incident has once again highlighted the grave dangers of rash driving on Goa's roads. The local community is in mourning over the untimely death of a young professional, whose life was cut short in a horrific manner.
