The tragic event occurred as Krithika was picking up her son from his kindergarten at a private school in Yagappa Nagar. After collecting him, she boarded an autorickshaw to head back home. While passing through Parisutham Nagar, the vehicle suddenly hit a speed breaker, causing it to lose balance and overturn. This abrupt impact led to Krithika sustaining fatal injuries, while her son was shielded from more severe harm.

Traffic police swiftly arrived at the scene, where they retrieved Krithika's body and transported it to Thanjavur Medical College Hospital for a postmortem examination. The autorickshaw driver, Parthiban, aged 48, was detained by authorities. Police have registered a case against him under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections 281 for rash driving, 106(1) for causing death by negligence, and 125 for endangering life.
