Mohali Police Nab 12 in Fatal Temple Stabbing Case
In a significant breakthrough, the Mohali police have arrested twelve persons, including two juveniles, in connection with the brutal murder of a youth near the Laxmi Narayan Temple in Phase 11. The incident occurred on the intervening night of February 14 and 15, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Tragic Incident
According to the official complaint filed by Jaspreet Singh, a resident of Fatehgarh Sahib, he along with his friends Akashdeep Singh, Rahul Kumar, Arvin Kaur, and Gursev Singh visited the temple around 12:40 AM. At the temple premises, a group of fifteen to twenty youths were allegedly riding motorcycles in a reckless and dangerous manner.
When Gursev Singh objected to their speeding and irresponsible behavior, one of the accused reportedly pulled out a sharp-edged weapon and stabbed him directly in the chest. The attack caused severe and fatal injuries, after which the assailants immediately fled the scene.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Gursev Singh was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Following the murder, the police launched an intensive investigation, conducting multiple raids across the region.
As a result of these efforts, twelve accused individuals have been apprehended. The two minors involved in the crime were sent to a juvenile home in Hoshiarpur, while the adult suspects were identified as Shyam Sundar Thakur, Tejbir, Gaurav, Rakesh Kumar, Adarsh alias Billa, Somveer, Jatinder Singh, Mohit, Dinesh, and Abhiman alias Abhi.
All arrested adults were produced before the court and have been remanded to five days of police custody for further interrogation and investigation.
Recovery of Evidence and Ongoing Efforts
During the investigation, the police successfully recovered crucial evidence from the crime scene. This includes a Splendor motorcycle, a Bullet motorcycle, and the sharp-edged weapon that was used to commit the murder.
Police officials have confirmed that a total of eighteen youths were originally booked in the case. While twelve have been arrested, intensive raids and operations are currently underway to apprehend the remaining six accused individuals. The authorities have assured the public that they are committed to bringing all perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety of the community.
