Union Minister Manjhi Commits to Addressing MSME Raw Material Price Concerns
Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Jitan Ram Manjhi stated on Thursday that the issue of escalating raw material prices involves multiple ministries, including finance, industry, and steel. He assured that he would coordinate with these ministries to tackle the concerns of MSMEs.
Minister's Assurance at Coimbatore Interactive Meeting
The minister made these remarks during an interactive meeting with industry associations and institutions at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex in Coimbatore. He emphasized that MSMEs are making substantial contributions to the economy and creating employment opportunities for youth. Manjhi pledged full support to the sector and announced plans to coordinate with concerned ministries between March 9 and 15, 2026, to resolve key issues.
Key Initiatives Launched to Boost MSME Sector
During the event, Minister Manjhi released a comprehensive MSME handbook that includes details on schemes, compliance requirements, and growth opportunities. He also launched an industry-academia initiative designed to enhance collaboration between educational institutions and MSMEs. Additionally, he unveiled the Coimbatore MSME database, a digital marketplace intended to improve networking and business prospects in the region.
Specific Requests and Sector Concerns
V Sundaram, director of the Codissia Defence Innovation and Atal Incubation Centre, requested the minister to facilitate an appointment with the defence minister for the inauguration of a newly constructed Rs 8 crore exclusive building of the Defence Innovation Centre at CODISSIA Industrial Park in Kallapalayam. Manjhi assured that he would coordinate in this matter.
Representatives from various industry associations submitted memorandums at the end of the event, highlighting sector-specific concerns and recommendations to the Union Minister.
Earlier Engagements Focused on Education and Youth
Prior to the MSME meeting, Minister Manjhi inaugurated a new building at Nirmala College of Arts and Science for Women in Redfields. He distributed certificates to faculty and students, interacted with the students, discussed the vital role of women in nation-building, and emphasized the importance of youth in driving India's development.
