Class 10 Student Delivers Baby During Board Exam, Alleges Repeated Sexual Assault
A shocking incident has emerged from Dhar district, where a class 10 student delivered a baby boy in the washroom of a government school during her board examination on Tuesday. The minor, whose identity is protected as per Supreme Court directives, has alleged to police that she was sexually assaulted repeatedly over several months by a youth known to her.
Police Investigation and Minor's Statement
During medical examination and police questioning on Thursday in the presence of her parents, the teenager provided a detailed account of the alleged assaults. According to her statement, she first met the accused during a garba celebration in 2024, after which they began communicating regularly. The girl reportedly used her father's phone to maintain contact with the youth.
The First Information Report (FIR) reveals that the accused first approached her in May 2025 with a marriage proposal. When she refused, he allegedly took her to his rented accommodation and forcibly established physical relations with her. The minor claimed the youth threatened her with serious consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
Pattern of Abuse and Concealed Pregnancy
The complaint further states that the accused continued to contact her by phone and allegedly called her to his room multiple times, where he maintained physical relations with her again. Out of fear and concern about social stigma, the teenager did not inform her family about the assaults or her subsequent pregnancy.
"Out of fear and social stigma, she did not inform her family and concealed the pregnancy," police officials stated, summarizing her testimony. This concealment continued until the dramatic events during her board examination.
Examination Day Incident and Medical Response
During her board examination, the teenager complained of severe abdominal pain and sought permission to step out of the examination hall. When she did not return for an extended period, concerned school staff checked the washroom and discovered she had delivered a baby boy.
Immediate medical attention was provided, and both the minor and her newborn were taken to a government hospital. Medical professionals have confirmed that both mother and baby are currently in stable condition and receiving appropriate care.
Legal Proceedings and Official Response
Deputy Superintendent of Police Umakant Choudhary confirmed that a case has been registered based on the minor's complaint and that further investigation has been initiated. "A case has been registered and further investigation has been initiated," DSP Choudhary stated, emphasizing the seriousness with which authorities are treating the allegations.
The investigation will examine all aspects of the case, including the timeline of events, the relationship between the minor and the accused, and the circumstances surrounding the alleged assaults. Police are following proper protocols for cases involving minors and sexual assault allegations.
This distressing incident highlights multiple concerns about child safety, sexual violence awareness, and support systems for vulnerable minors in educational settings. The case continues to develop as authorities pursue their investigation while ensuring the minor receives necessary medical and psychological support during this traumatic period.
