Begusarai: Police detained a 15-year-old boy who allegedly raped a four-year-old girl in Begusarai district on Saturday and sent him to a child remand home. SHO Pramendra Kumar said that both the victim and the accused are residents of the same village.
The incident occurred on Saturday when the girl was playing with her friends on the premises of a government school near her house. While they were playing, the accused, who lives nearby, allegedly persuaded the girl to accompany him to a nearby maize field, where he raped her. Hearing her cries, some locals rushed to the spot and took her home, where she narrated the ordeal to her mother, Kumar added.
Teghra SDPO Krishna Kumar said that a police team later detained the boy from the village in the evening. Medical examinations of both the victim and the accused were conducted at Begusarai Sadar Hospital on Saturday night, he added.
Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The accused has been sent to a child remand home, and further investigation is underway.
The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who demanded strict action against the perpetrator. Authorities have assured that the law will take its course and that the victim's family will be provided with necessary support.
