Meerut Horror: Father Leaves Daughter's Corpse at Home for Four Months
In a deeply disturbing incident that has shocked Meerut, a 75-year-old retired clerk from the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad allegedly abandoned his daughter's corpse at their home for approximately four months before leaving for Haridwar. The grim discovery was made by police on Friday night, revealing a scene described as a "horror house" by investigating officers.
The Gruesome Discovery
Police personnel responding to a relative's complaint found the skeletal remains of 35-year-old Priyanka Biswas, a former schoolteacher, lying on a bed in the family's Sadar area residence. The body had decomposed to such an extent that only decaying flesh remained on one limb, with the rest reduced to a skeleton. The entire house was reportedly cluttered with garbage, creating a horrific environment.
Navina Shukla, the Circle Officer of Sadar, described the scene: "It was a horror house when our personnel entered. The entire place was cluttered with garbage. Priyanka's body had transitioned into a skeleton, lying on a bed. Her remains have been sent for a detailed medical examination and forensic analysis."
Four Months of Deception
According to police investigations, Priyanka Biswas had died of black jaundice in December last year. Instead of conducting her last rites or informing anyone of her death, her father Uday Bhan Biswas allegedly sprayed the corpse with perfume, remained at the house for a couple of days, and then quietly slipped away to Haridwar, keeping relatives and neighbors completely unaware of the tragedy.
The truth only emerged on Friday evening when one of his relatives, Bishwajeet, spotted Biswas at a local market in Meerut. "He initially kept giving vague replies," Bishwajeet recounted. "I called my other relatives also and brought him to our house. When we all confronted him, he admitted Priyanka died around four months ago and he had gone off to Haridwar, leaving her body at home. I approached police soon after."
A Troubled Family History
Further investigation revealed a tragic family background that may have contributed to this bizarre incident. Inder Pal Singh, the Station House Officer of Sadar, shared disturbing details during questioning: "During questioning, it was learnt that Biswas's wife Sharmistha had committed suicide in 2013. He and his daughter believed relatives had done some kind of black magic resulting in her death. And they started leading a reclusive life."
This belief in supernatural causes extended to Priyanka's illness as well. Singh added, "During his daughter's illness, instead of proper treatment, he had opted for 'ojhas' to cure her." This reliance on traditional healers rather than medical professionals may have contributed to the tragic outcome.
Community Reaction and Investigation
Neighbors expressed shock at the revelation, with Ritu Devi, a neighbor, stating: "Biswas usually kept to himself though his daughter used to go for work." This reclusive behavior noted by neighbors aligns with the family's withdrawal from social circles following the mother's death.
Uday Bhan Biswas has been taken into police custody for detailed questioning. The remains of Priyanka Biswas have been sent for comprehensive medical examination and forensic analysis to determine the exact cause of death and gather additional evidence.
The case has raised serious questions about mental health awareness, elder care, and community support systems in urban areas. Police continue their investigation into this macabre incident that remained hidden for four months before coming to light through a chance encounter at a local market.
