Mediator Succumbs to Injuries After Ludhiana Land Dispute Turns Violent
In a tragic incident in Ludhiana, a man who attempted to mediate a heated land dispute between two groups has died during treatment after allegedly being pushed and assaulted. The police have swiftly taken action, booking four persons in connection with the case under charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and other relevant sections.
Details of the Altercation and Fatal Outcome
According to Kulwant Kaur, the wife of the deceased Keval Singh and a resident of Dangian village, the conflict arose during discussions over the partition of jointly owned family land. An argument erupted between the two sides, with Mandeep Singh of Bhagike village reportedly beginning to abuse Sukchain Singh. In an effort to calm the situation, Keval Singh intervened to pacify the groups.
However, the situation escalated rapidly. Kulwant Kaur alleged that during the altercation, Balwant Singh pushed Keval Singh to the ground. Although Keval Singh managed to get up and return home, he later complained of severe pain in his nose. His condition deteriorated significantly after reaching home, prompting his family to take immediate action.
Medical Treatment and Police Investigation
Keval Singh was first taken to the civil hospital in Jagraon for medical attention. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to a hospital in Ludhiana for further treatment. Tragically, he died during the course of medical care, leaving his family and community in shock.
The police have identified and booked the following individuals in connection with the incident:
- Balwant Singh of Dangian village
- Gurdayal Singh of Dhaul village
- Gurmeet Singh of Bhagike village
- Mandeep Singh of Bhagike village
All four are residents of Moga district and face serious charges as the investigation continues to unfold. Authorities are working to gather more evidence and statements to ensure justice is served in this distressing case.
