A dedicated team from the Konaje Police Station conducted a targeted raid at a public location near Fiza Grounds in Belma village, Ullal taluk, on Sunday. During the operation, the youth was allegedly caught in the act of selling MDMA to customers, which included college students, highlighting the concerning reach of such activities into educational circles.

Police officials recovered a substantial quantity of 10.6 grams of MDMA from the accused, with an estimated street value of approximately Rs 1 lakh. In addition to the drugs, authorities confiscated several items that point to organized peddling operations. These include a mobile phone, a digital weighing scale, zip-lock transparent covers, a smoke tube, a syringe, and a motorcycle lacking a number plate. The seizure of these materials provides critical evidence for the ongoing investigation.

Following the arrest, police have registered a formal case under multiple sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Specifically, charges have been filed under sections 8(c), 22, 22(a), 22(b), and 22(c), which pertain to the possession, sale, and distribution of controlled substances. This legal action reflects the seriousness with which authorities are addressing drug-related offenses in the area.

The accused has been identified as Mohammed Zakir, a resident of Kasaba Bengre. At just 19 years old, his involvement in such activities raises concerns about youth engagement in illegal drug trade.
