West Champaran Man Survives Previous Attack, Found Shot Dead Months Later
In a tragic turn of events, a 47-year-old man who had miraculously survived a violent assault just three months earlier was found shot dead near the Nandpur Dhala railway track in Narkatiaganj. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Shikarpur police station in West Champaran district, with the body being discovered on Saturday morning by alert local residents who immediately notified the authorities.
Victim Identified as Local Businessman
The deceased has been identified as Vijay Sah, a resident of ward number 7 in Narkatiaganj. According to preliminary reports, Sah operated an egg shop in the area and had been facing persistent threats related to a previous criminal case. His brother, Sanjay Sah, revealed that Vijay had left their home around 7 PM on Friday evening to purchase betel leaves but never returned, with his lifeless body being found the following morning near the railway tracks.
Police Investigation Uncovers Crucial Evidence
Bettiah Superintendent of Police Shaurya Suman confirmed that during their inspection of the crime scene, police personnel recovered a country-made pistol, commonly known as a katta, along with two empty cartridges. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and document the number of gunshot wounds sustained by the victim.
"Preliminary investigation strongly suggests this murder may be directly connected to the earlier attempt on Sah's life," stated SP Suman. He further explained that the victim's family had been receiving threats demanding they withdraw the previous case filed after the November attack.
Connection to Previous Violent Assault
On November 29, 2025, Vijay Sah had been attacked with a sharp weapon in what appeared to be a separate violent incident. Three accused individuals were arrested in connection with that case, but one suspect managed to flee and remains absconding to this day. Police authorities are currently verifying whether this absconding accused might be involved in Friday night's shooting.
Special Police Team Formed for Investigation
In response to this serious crime, authorities have formed a special investigation team dedicated to tracing and arresting all individuals involved in the murder. A formal murder case has been registered, and comprehensive investigations are currently underway.
