Man Shot Dead, Son Critically Injured in Jhalawar Village Attack

A tragic incident unfolded in Bridiyakhedi village of Jhalawar district on Saturday night, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old man and leaving his seven-year-old son fighting for his life. The attack, which occurred under the jurisdiction of the Sadar police station, has sent shockwaves through the local community.

Details of the Fatal Shooting

According to police reports, four armed assailants forcibly entered the home of the victims late in the evening. The deceased has been identified as Roop Singh, who succumbed to his injuries on the spot. His young son, Lekhraj, sustained critical gunshot wounds and is currently undergoing intensive treatment at SRG Hospital.

Root Cause: A Morning Dispute Escalates

Jhalawar DSP Harshraj Singh revealed that the violent attack stemmed from a dispute that erupted earlier in the day. The conflict involved Roop Singh's brother, Dariya Singh, and a neighbor named Dulhe Singh. During the morning altercation, Dulhe Singh and his associates allegedly assaulted Roop Singh's father and sister-in-law, setting the stage for further retaliation.

Evening Assault and Aftermath

Later that evening, around 8 pm, the situation escalated dramatically. Dulhe Singh, accompanied by his three brothers—Jagdish, Jugram, and Raghuveer—stormed into Dariya Singh's residence. The group opened fire indiscriminately, targeting the occupants. While Roop Singh was fatally shot, the assailants managed to flee the scene immediately after the attack.

Police authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident, focusing on apprehending the accused individuals. The case highlights the severe consequences of unresolved personal conflicts in rural areas, raising concerns about community safety and law enforcement responsiveness.
