A 40-year-old man was killed by his paramour and her son in Jeedimetla, Hyderabad, on Sunday night. The victim, identified as Shiva Reddy, a native of Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh, had been in a live-in relationship with the woman, G Aruna (42), for the past decade. Her teenage son, G Sai Ratnam (19), also lived with them.
Background of the Incident
According to police, the victim had been allegedly harassing the mother and son by frequently coming home drunk and causing trouble. Frustrated by the constant harassment, the accused decided to eliminate him.
The Murder
On the night of the incident, the victim was in a drunken state and fell asleep. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused used a machete to slit his throat. Jeedimetla Sub-Inspector Prem Sagar stated, "When the murder took place, the victim was in a drunken condition and he was sleeping."
Attempt to Dispose of the Body
After the murder, the accused planned to dispose of the body by wrapping it in a cloth and throwing it into a nearby nala. However, they could not execute the plan. They removed the victim's clothes and threw them into the nala, then kept the wrapped body inside their house.
Police received information about the incident and reached the spot. The accused were arrested on the charge of murder and sent to judicial remand. Both the accused and the victim were daily wage laborers.
This incident highlights the tragic consequences of prolonged domestic harassment and the extreme measures taken by those who feel trapped in abusive relationships.
