Jhunjhunu: A 43-year-old man was killed and three members of his family sustained injuries after assailants attacked them while they were asleep in Tihavali village under Ramgarh Sethan police station limits in Sikar district late Sunday night. The incident has sparked tension in the area, with residents staging a protest demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
Victim and Injuries
Additional superintendent of police Tejpal Singh identified the deceased as Prakash Singh. His son Abhijeet Singh, wife Pinki Kanwar, and mother Nain Kanwar sustained injuries in the attack. The injured were initially rushed to a local hospital and later referred to Sikar due to their critical condition.
Allegations Against Sarpanch's Son
Family members alleged that Prakash Singh's cousin Om Singh, along with his relatives, carried out the assault. Om Singh is the son of the village sarpanch, Bhanwar Kanwar. According to the family, a long-standing dispute existed between the two sides, as Prakash Singh had earlier lodged multiple complaints against the sarpanch.
Police Response and Investigation
Police said the accused allegedly barged into the house late at night and attacked the family with sharp-edged weapons. Prakash Singh died on the spot. The victim's family also alleged a delay in police response. After being alerted, police reached the spot and launched a search for the accused. Police said efforts are on to nab the accused.
Protest and Tension
Tension prevailed in the area as locals staged a protest seeking swift action. Authorities are working to maintain law and order while the investigation continues.
