Police in Noida have arrested a man for allegedly misbehaving with and obstructing a woman Booth Level Officer (BLO) who was performing her official duties. The incident, which was captured in a video that later went viral on social media, led to swift legal action.
Viral Video Leads to Arrest
The arrest was made on Wednesday, December 4, 2025. The accused, identified as Joginder, was taken into custody after the BLO formally lodged a complaint at the Sector 24 police station on Tuesday. Following her complaint, an FIR was registered, paving the way for Joginder's arrest.
Details of the Confrontation
The altercation took place at a primary school in Noida's Sector 12. The woman BLO was engaged in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, a critical government process. In the widely circulated video, Joginder is seen in an agitated state, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, shouting and threatening the officer.
He is heard asserting, "Don't take me lightly, my name is Joginder," while holding a mobile phone. Throughout the confrontation, the BLO is seen calmly attempting to explain to him that she does not possess his SIR form and that he needs to contact his designated Booth Level Officer. Despite her repeated explanations, the man continued his aggressive behaviour.
Charges and Legal Action
Joginder was ultimately arrested on the charge of obstructing a government officer from performing her duty. The case highlights the challenges faced by frontline election officials during revision drives. The police acted promptly after the video evidence and the official complaint came to light, demonstrating a strict stance against the intimidation of public servants.
The incident serves as a reminder of the legal consequences of obstructing government work and misbehaving with officials, especially in a sensitive process like electoral roll revision.
