Man Apprehended for Alleged Sacrilege Attempt at Fatehabad Gurdwara
In a disturbing incident that has sparked outrage, a man was arrested for allegedly attempting sacrilege at a gurdwara in Mohammadpur Rohi village, Fatehabad district, on Monday evening. The accused, identified as Gurpreet Singh, a resident of the same village, entered the religious premises carrying a liquor bottle and without covering his head, actions considered highly disrespectful in Sikh tradition.

According to police reports, the event unfolded around 7:50 PM on April 7. Gurpreet Singh reportedly ventured into the Darbar Sahib area of the gurdwara and made an attempt to remove the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism, thereby hurting the religious sentiments of devotees present. The gurdwara president, Ranjeet Singh, filed a formal complaint detailing these allegations, emphasizing the gravity of the act.
Quick action by devotees prevented further escalation. Two women, Avraj Kaur and Krishna, who were at the gurdwara at the time, immediately restrained the accused. They were soon assisted by villagers Sunil and Sampat Singh, who helped overpower Gurpreet Singh until law enforcement arrived on the scene. This collective effort ensured the situation was contained without physical harm to the sacred text or additional disturbances.
