Man dies by suicide in Barabanki hotel after WhatsApp post

In a tragic incident, a 27-year-old man was discovered dead in a hotel room in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday morning. The discovery came shortly after he posted a sorrowful message on his WhatsApp status, which included a photograph of his deceased first wife.

Cryptic Final Message on Social Media

Identified as Alok Verma, a resident of Jalalpur village, the young man's final act was to update his WhatsApp status with a haunting note. The status read, "I am coming to you. Please forgive me, everyone." This digital farewell was accompanied by a picture of his first wife, who had passed away some time ago.

According to police reports, Verma had been a frequent guest at the hotel over the past several months. Hotel manager Anshik revealed that Verma booked rooms two to three times a week. His last check-in was on Monday around 9:30 PM, when he occupied room 110.

Discovery of the Tragedy

The grim discovery unfolded on Tuesday morning when hotel staff grew concerned. They noticed that the door to room 110 was still closed from the inside, and a mobile phone could be heard ringing incessantly with no answer. After repeated knocking and attempts to call the room went unanswered, the hotel management immediately alerted the local police.

Officers from the City Police Station arrived at the scene and forced entry into the room. Inside, they found Alok Verma's body hanging from the ceiling fan, using a plastic rope. The scene confirmed their worst fears.

Family's Shock and Police Investigation

Speaking to the authorities, grieving family members provided crucial background. They confirmed that Verma's first wife had died, after which he had remarried. "He appeared normal and gave no impression that he could kill himself," the family stated, as quoted by PTI. Their statements highlight the hidden nature of the personal turmoil Verma was experiencing.

City Police Station SHO Sudhir Kumar Singh stated that the matter is under active investigation. "Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report," Singh said, indicating the procedural steps that will follow the initial inquiry. The police are examining all angles, including the significance of the WhatsApp status and the circumstances leading to the extreme step.

This incident in Barabanki has once again brought focus to the critical issue of mental health and the profound, often invisible, impact of personal loss. The use of social media as a final platform for communication adds a modern, distressing layer to such tragedies.
