28-Year-Old Man Dies After Lathi Attack in Nuh's Mewli Village, Old Enmity Blamed
Man dies 8 days after lathi assault in Nuh, murder case filed

A 28-year-old man has died from severe head injuries sustained during a brutal assault with a wooden stick, or lathi, in Mewli village of Haryana's Nuh district. The victim, identified as Ajruddin from Bahadurpur Chikani in Rajasthan's Alwar district, passed away during treatment at a Jaipur hospital on Tuesday, eight days after the violent attack.

Sequence of the Assault

The incident, rooted in an old enmity according to police, occurred when Ajruddin was travelling on a motorcycle with his friend, Farid, a resident of Adupur in Alwar. They were headed towards Kotla. As they reached the Mewli stand, the accused, identified as Robin from Mewli village, allegedly intercepted them. Police officials stated that Robin blocked the motorcycle's path and struck Ajruddin directly on the head with a lathi.

The blow was so forceful that Ajruddin collapsed on the spot, suffering critical head injuries. His companion, Farid, managed to escape from the scene and fled without sustaining serious harm. Ajruddin was first rushed to a local medical facility for initial care.

Deterioration and Death

As his condition continued to worsen, his family made the decision to shift him to a hospital in Jaipur for more advanced medical intervention. Despite receiving specialised treatment there, Ajruddin could not survive and succumbed to his injuries eight days after the assault. Following his death, the Akera police formally registered a case of murder against the accused.

Police Investigation and Village Accounts

Police have launched an intensive search operation to trace and arrest Robin. Multiple police teams have been formed and are conducting surveillance at possible hideouts. An investigating officer confirmed that further probe is ongoing to piece together the exact sequence of events and to recover the weapon used in the crime.

Local villagers provided context to the hostility, suggesting the rivalry originated from a previous altercation in a nearby hilly area. The dispute reportedly involved issues related to cattle grazing and the movement of livestock. Villagers alleged that the accused was aware of Ajruddin's travel route that day and deliberately lay in wait to carry out the planned attack.

The case highlights the fatal consequences of longstanding local disputes in the region, with police now treating it as a premeditated murder.
