Father Accused of Heinous Crime Against Minor Daughter
In a deeply disturbing incident from Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district, a middle-aged man has been booked by the police under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused stands charged with sexually molesting his own minor daughter, an act that has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Gruesome Details of the Peddapanjani Incident
The crime was reported from Peddapanjani village under the jurisdiction of the Palamaner rural police. According to the official account provided by Circle Inspector (CI) Parasuramudu, the accused, identified as Peddabba, committed the atrocity near his home. He forcibly took his young daughter to an isolated spot and attempted to sexually assault her.
The situation escalated when the minor girl's grandmother intervened in a desperate attempt to rescue the child. Showing utter brutality, Peddabba reportedly thrashed the elderly woman. Taking advantage of the ensuing chaos, when the grandmother went to seek help from other village residents, the accused carried out the sexual assault on his daughter and subsequently fled from the scene.
Police Action and Ongoing Manhunt
Acting swiftly on the report, a team from the Peddapanjani police station, led by CI Parasuramudu, reached the location. The first priority was the well-being of the survivor, who was immediately shifted to the government hospital in Palamaner for medical examination and care.
The police have registered a formal case under the relevant sections of the POCSO Act, which mandates severe punishment for crimes against children. As of now, the accused, Peddabba, remains absconding. The authorities have launched an intensive manhunt to apprehend him and bring him to justice. This case highlights the critical role of the POCSO Act in addressing such grave offences and the ongoing challenges in protecting children within domestic settings.
