Jalgaon superintendent of police Maheshwar Reddy confirmed that the man's identity remains unknown. Police have registered a murder case under section 103 (1) and arrested five men, all residents of Avhane village. The arrests were made following a complaint filed at the Jalgaon taluka police station.

Avhane village sarpanch Pintu Patil alerted the police, who arrived at the scene to find the victim bleeding profusely. He was immediately taken to a government hospital but succumbed to his injuries early Tuesday morning.
