A young man was brutally beaten to death and his colleague left fighting for his life in Greater Noida in the early hours of Monday, after they objected to a group of men consuming alcohol by the roadside. The fatal confrontation has sent shockwaves through the community and prompted a swift police response.
Chilling Timeline of the Late-Night Attack
The incident occurred in Karnala village under the Dadri police station area between 1:00 am and 1:30 am on Monday. According to police officials, the victims, identified as 26-year-old Harkesh and 27-year-old Mohit, were returning to their homes in a car after finishing their work shift.
Both men worked together, with Harkesh employed as a recovery agent in Greater Noida. Their journey took a tragic turn when they encountered a group of individuals from Karnala village who were drinking on the road. An argument erupted after Harkesh objected to their public drinking.
From Argument to a Fatal Assault
The verbal dispute quickly escalated into a violent physical assault. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), Greater Noida, Sudheer Kumar, stated that the accused individuals jointly attacked Harkesh and Mohit with sticks and rods.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Dadri, Jitendra Kumar, provided a harrowing account, noting the suddenness and ferocity of the attack left the two friends with no chance to defend themselves. Seriously injured and in critical condition, the attackers fled the scene, abandoning the victims.
With assistance from residents of nearby villages, the injured men were rushed to a hospital. Despite medical efforts, Harkesh succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Mohit remains hospitalized and is undergoing care for his critical wounds.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Acting on a formal complaint lodged by Harkesh's father, Jatin, the police have registered a murder case against seven individuals from the village. Law enforcement has already made progress, with two arrests made in connection with the case.
