Ludhiana police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl in the Krishna Nagar area, while a search continues for his relative who is also accused in the case.
Incident Details
According to police, the incident occurred in May when the victim was alone at her home. A tenant living on the upper floor of the girl's house allegedly sexually assaulted her. The suspect later threatened the victim with dire consequences, forcing her to remain silent.
The case came to light after the girl recently informed her family about the assault. The family then approached the police, who registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Arrests and Investigation
Police arrested the main suspect, identified as Balwinder Yadav. During the investigation, the victim also accused a relative of Yadav, named Ajay, of sexually assaulting her. A raid is being conducted to nab the absconding accomplice.
Officials at the PAU police station stated that the matter is being probed and the absconding suspect will be apprehended soon.
