Man arrested for murdering farmer in Firozabad

Police in Firozabad district have arrested a 40-year-old man for the alleged murder of a 35-year-old livestock farmer. The incident, which occurred due to the victim's habitual drunken abuse of passersby, has sent shockwaves through the rural community.

Body Found in Agricultural Field

The case came to light on December 8 when the body of Prem Shankar was discovered in an agricultural field on the outskirts of Nagle Eka village. Prem, who lived alone, was a resident of Nagla Bhara village. Investigations revealed that his wife and five children had left their home about a week before the incident, unable to cope with his alcohol addiction.

Following the grim discovery, an FIR under BNS section 103(1) for murder was registered at the Eka police station against unknown persons. The police promptly formed two special teams to track down the culprits behind this brutal crime.

Tip-Off Leads to Arrest

Acting on crucial intelligence, the police apprehended the primary accused, identified as Kshetrapal. A resident of Sujayatpur village, Kshetrapal runs a small shop selling daily necessities. ASP (Rural) Firozabad, Anuj Chaudhary, provided details of the arrest and the motive behind the crime.

During interrogation, Kshetrapal confessed to the murder. He stated that Prem Shankar, whose village was merely 700-800 metres away, would frequently verbally assault pedestrians while under the influence of alcohol. This persistent nuisance had reportedly angered Kshetrapal and his associates.

Assault Turns Fatal

Driven by annoyance, Kshetrapal, along with two other men—Vijendra and Gajraj—confronted Prem Shankar. The confrontation quickly escalated into a physical assault. In a violent turn, the accused allegedly used a muffler to strangle the farmer to death.

While Kshetrapal is now in police custody, his two alleged accomplices, Vijendra and Gajraj, are still at large. The police have confirmed that legal proceedings against the arrested accused are underway. Simultaneously, raids are being conducted across the region to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects.

The case highlights a tragic escalation of a local dispute, resulting in a fatal outcome. It also underscores the severe social and familial disruptions caused by alcohol abuse in rural settings.
