Man Arrested in Tirupati for Filming Wife's Suicide Instead of Helping
In a shocking incident in Tirupati, a middle-aged man was arrested by the Mannur police at Rajampet for filming his wife's suicide on his mobile phone rather than preventing it. The accused, identified as Sriram Srinivas, works as a loco-pilot and resides in Boyenpalli within the Rajampet rural police station limits.
Details of the Tragic Event
According to Mannur CI Lingappa, the deceased, Krishnaveni, frequently had altercations with her husband. Following one such argument, Krishnaveni locked herself in her bedroom and threatened to commit suicide. She tied a saree to the ceiling fan, placed the other end around her neck, and positioned a chair on the bed to stand on and kick off.
Instead of intervening to save her, Srinivas filmed her actions from a window using his mobile phone. Moments later, Krishnaveni was found dead inside the room.
Family Reaction and Police Action
Upon learning of Krishnaveni's death, family members accused Srinivas of abetting her suicide. They physically assaulted him before handing him over to the Mannur police. CI Lingappa confirmed that the police have registered a case of suspicious death and shifted the body for postmortem. Srinivas is currently in police custody and undergoing interrogation.
The incident highlights a disturbing lack of intervention in a domestic crisis, raising questions about responsibility and legal accountability in such situations.
