In a significant development in the 2025 murder case of social media influencer Kamal Kaur, popularly known as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi, the Punjab Police have successfully arrested the primary accused, Amritpal Singh Mehron. The arrest marks a crucial breakthrough in the investigation that has spanned several months.
International Operation Leads to Arrest
Amritpal Singh Mehron had been evading authorities by hiding in Dubai following the murder. The Punjab Police's Counter Intelligence Wing executed a meticulous operation through its specialized Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell (OFTEC) to locate and apprehend him in the Middle East. He was subsequently brought back to India to face legal proceedings.
Details of the 2025 Murder
Kamal Kaur, whose real name was Kanchan Kumari, was discovered deceased on June 11, 2025, inside a vehicle parked at Adesh Hospital in Bathinda. The post-mortem examination conclusively determined that the 25-year-old influencer was strangled to death. The car, registered in Ludhiana, had been stationed at the medical university parking area for an extended period before the grim discovery.
Police investigations have established that Mehron collaborated with three associates—Jaspreet Singh, Nimratjit Singh, and Ranjit Singh—in perpetrating the murder. The three co-accused individuals were apprehended earlier in the investigation timeline.
Legal Actions and Fugitive Status
After committing the crime, Mehron fled to Dubai, where he remained concealed for a prolonged duration. On February 7, a Bathinda court officially declared him a proclaimed offender. This judicial declaration prompted authorities to issue a Red Corner Notice against him through Interpol, intensifying the international manhunt.

Kamal Kaur was a prominent social media figure with over 3.83 lakh followers on Instagram. She gained fame for posting reels, some of which attracted criticism for their explicit nature. She resided with her mother, two brothers, and two sisters. According to family statements, they last saw her when she departed for Bathinda, where she was later found dead, sparking a high-profile murder investigation that has now seen a major advancement with this arrest.
