Main Accused Apprehended in High-Profile Ara Tanishq Robbery Case
In a significant development in the sensational Ara Tanishq showroom robbery case, the Bhojpur police have successfully arrested the primary accused, Baba alias Sourabh Tiwari, aged 25 and a resident of Bithauli in Vaishali district. This arrest marks a crucial breakthrough in the investigation of the broad daylight heist that occurred in March last year, where seven robbers looted jewellery valued at an astonishing Rs 10 crore from the showroom located at Gopali Chowk, the commercial hub of Ara.
Details of the Arrest and Investigation
According to police officials, Sourabh Tiwari was identified as the kingpin who orchestrated the robbery, with the six other robbers acting as his associates during the execution of the crime. Ara sadar SDPO-1 Raj Kumar Shah provided detailed insights into the incident, stating, "Out of the seven robbers who had entered the Ara Tanishq showroom in March last year, Sourabh was the last one to enter wearing a helmet. It was he who had come out after the robbery with the looted bag containing the jewellery."
The police have made substantial progress in recovering the stolen items. So far, they have retrieved two out of the three looted bags and approximately 750 grams of gold jewellery from the third bag, which Sourabh had taken with him after the robbery. This recovery is a vital step in the ongoing investigation and asset retrieval process.
Broader Arrests and Case Developments
The Bhojpur police have expanded their investigation beyond the immediate robbers, resulting in a total of 26 arrests in the case to date. These individuals are accused of either providing shelter to the robbers or assisting them as accomplices in various capacities. In a related development, two other accused, Chunmun Jha and Prince Kumar, were killed in separate police encounters in Araria and Vaishali districts, respectively, highlighting the intense law enforcement efforts to bring all involved parties to justice.
This case has drawn significant attention due to the audacious nature of the robbery and the substantial value of the stolen jewellery. The arrest of the main accused is expected to provide further leads and potentially uncover additional details about the planning and execution of the crime, as well as the network of individuals involved.
The Bhojpur police continue to pursue all angles of the investigation, emphasizing their commitment to solving high-profile crimes and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable under the law. The community and authorities alike are hopeful that this arrest will lead to a full resolution of the case and serve as a deterrent against similar criminal activities in the region.
