Madurai Railway Station Conducts Pre-Republic Day Anti-Sabotage Inspection

In preparation for the 77th Republic Day celebrations on January 26, a comprehensive anti-sabotage check was carried out at Madurai railway station on Sunday. The security exercise, which commenced at 11:15 am, involved a coordinated effort by multiple agencies to ensure the safety and security of the station premises.

Security Personnel and Equipment Deployed

The operation saw the participation of Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, specialized Bomb Detection Squad teams, and trained sniffer dogs along with their handlers. Security teams meticulously scanned various areas of the station using advanced detection equipment to identify any potential threats.

Key areas inspected included:

  • All platforms and waiting areas
  • Trains arriving at and departing from the station
  • The parcel office and storage facilities
  • The main entrance and exit points

Thorough Inspection of Railway Operations

Approximately 40 Bomb Detection Squad personnel were deployed in rotation to examine coaches on both arriving and departing trains. Two specially trained sniffer dogs assisted in the inspection process, providing an additional layer of security screening.

Officials confirmed that no suspicious objects were discovered during the extensive checks, indicating that all security protocols were effectively implemented and the station was found to be secure.

Republic Day Celebrations Planned

Meanwhile, the Southern Railway's Madurai division has organized special events to commemorate the 77th Republic Day on Monday. The celebrations will commence with the hoisting of the national flag by Divisional Railway Manager Om Prakash Meena at the Madurai Railway Colony Ground at 9 am.

The day's program will feature:

  1. A ceremonial parade involving RPF personnel, railway scouts and guides, and students from the railway school
  2. The parade salute and an address by the divisional railway manager
  3. Various cultural performances and art displays showcasing local talent
  4. A demonstration by RPF sniffer dogs highlighting their training and capabilities

These events will conclude later in the day, marking the Republic Day celebrations with both solemn ceremony and community participation.
