Ludhiana MBA Student Fatally Shot by Business Partner at Shooting Range

The peaceful village of Talwara near Ludhiana was rocked by a shocking incident last week when a 24-year-old MBA student was shot dead at a private shooting range. The victim, identified as Rajveer Singh from Thareeke, succumbed to his injuries at DMC Hospital after being struck by a bullet from a high-caliber licensed pistol.

A Partnership Turned Deadly

Investigations conducted by the PAU police have revealed that the tragedy stemmed from a business partnership gone horribly wrong. Both Rajveer Singh and the accused, Jugaad Singh Sekhon, hailed from affluent families and were in the advanced stages of launching a spare parts business venture.

The business arrangement required each partner to contribute an equal investment of Rs 1 crore. According to Inspector Vijay Kumar, the two friends had developed a routine of visiting the shooting range in Talwara village during Sekhon's practice sessions. On January 24, what began as another routine visit quickly escalated into a fatal confrontation.

The Fatal Confrontation Over Funds

Police reports indicate that while at the shooting range, the conversation between the two young entrepreneurs turned to their startup plans. The discussion rapidly deteriorated into a heated argument as both men accused each other of failing to contribute their promised share of the capital investment.

"The interrogation revealed that Sekhon did not take the victim to the range with the premeditated intent to kill him," Inspector Vijay Kumar stated. "However, the dispute became increasingly aggressive, and in what appears to be a fit of rage, the accused fired a fatal shot at close range."

Legal Proceedings and Community Impact

Authorities have successfully recovered the licensed firearm used in the commission of the crime. Jugaad Singh Sekhon, a professional shooter and the victim's close friend, now faces serious legal consequences for his actions.

The accused has been charged under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with sections 25 to 27 of the Arms Act, which pertain to the misuse of firearms. The case was officially registered following a formal statement provided by the victim's father, Jasvir Singh.

This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, where both families are well-known and respected. Adding to the poignancy of the situation is the fact that the two young men were not just business partners but also former classmates who had attended the same educational institute together.

The case highlights the dangerous consequences that can arise when business disputes escalate beyond reasonable discussion, particularly when firearms are accessible. The Ludhiana police continue their investigation into the matter while the community mourns the loss of a promising young life cut short by violence.
