Ludhiana Labourer Shot in Foot During Violent Altercation Over Food Delivery Location

A 30-year-old labourer sustained a gunshot wound to his foot during a violent confrontation that erupted over a food delivery location in Ludhiana's EWS Colony on Friday night. The incident, which began as a verbal spat involving intoxicated men and a delivery executive, escalated dramatically when one of the accused opened fire.

Details of the Violent Incident

The injured man, identified as Sudama, is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital. Following a formal complaint from the victim, the Division Number 7 police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against two identified suspects: Jatin Bansal and Divyanshu, along with their currently unidentified associates. The charges filed include attempted murder and violations under the Arms Act.

According to statements from the victim's family members, the entire episode originated from a simple misunderstanding regarding a food delivery order. A delivery partner from a food aggregator platform approached Sudama with a parcel, but Sudama clarified that he had not placed any order. The delivery executive then contacted the actual customers who were located nearby.

How the Situation Escalated

Despite the legitimate customers requesting the delivery person to move just a few meters toward their location, the delivery boy insisted on dropping the package precisely at the exact coordinates pinned within the mobile application. This insistence triggered the arrival of a group of intoxicated men who began arguing aggressively with the courier.

The situation turned violent when one of the men accused Sudama of staring at him. The suspects then called for reinforcements, who arrived at the scene in a Mahindra Thar vehicle and began physically assaulting bystanders. During the ensuing scuffle, one of the accused discharged an illegal firearm, firing approximately five rounds. One of these bullets struck Sudama in his foot.

Police Investigation and Suspect Background

Inspector Gagandeep Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) at Division Number 7 police station, provided crucial details from the ongoing investigation. The probe revealed that the suspects were actually partying in a nearby labour quarter and had ordered wafers through the food delivery application. A confusion regarding the delivery coordinates mistakenly directed the courier to the victim's house instead, sparking the initial verbal altercation.

"We have positively identified Jatin Bansal and Divyanshu as the primary accused in this case," stated Inspector Singh. "Our investigation strongly suggests that Divyanshu fired the shots using an illegal weapon. Furthermore, Jatin Bansal is a repeat offender with five previous FIRs registered against him, including one for a murder bid."

The police are currently conducting intensive raids across multiple locations in an effort to apprehend the absconding suspects. Authorities have emphasized that this violent incident highlights broader concerns about public safety and the escalation of minor disputes into serious criminal acts involving illegal firearms.
