Lucknow Woman Files Police Case Against Husband for Matrimonial Fraud and Blackmail

A 32-year-old woman residing in the Saadatganj area of Lucknow has officially registered a criminal case against her husband, accusing him of committing serious matrimonial fraud. The complaint alleges that the husband demanded a substantial dowry of Rs 10 lakh and engaged in blackmail by circulating her private photos and videos among relatives.

Details of the Matrimonial Fraud Case

According to the victim's statement to authorities, she first met the accused, who is a resident of Kanpur, through a popular matrimonial application in April 2025. The couple proceeded with their union, getting married on April 16, 2025, and officially registering their marriage on April 19, 2025.

However, the situation deteriorated rapidly when a formal wedding ceremony, which was scheduled for October 18, 2025, was unexpectedly cancelled by the accused's family. The woman claims that following this cancellation, the accused and his father explicitly demanded Rs 10 lakh from her family to proceed with the ceremonial festivities.

Escalation to Blackmail and Denial of Marriage

When the woman and her family refused to comply with the dowry demand, the accused allegedly took extreme measures. He reportedly began denying the validity of their marriage and initiated a campaign of harassment by circulating her private photos and videos among extended family members and acquaintances.

This act of circulating intimate content was described as a clear attempt to blackmail and pressure the woman into meeting the financial demands. The victim stated that this violation of her privacy and dignity forced her to seek legal recourse.

Police Investigation and Digital Evidence

Local police authorities have confirmed that a formal case has been registered based on the woman's complaint. Investigators are currently examining digital evidence related to the alleged blackmail and dowry demands.

"Digital evidence is being thoroughly examined as part of this investigation," a police official stated. "We are committed to taking strict legal action against the accused in accordance with the law."

The case highlights ongoing issues of dowry harassment and digital blackmail within matrimonial disputes, with authorities emphasizing the importance of preserving digital evidence in such sensitive matters.
