Hisar Court Delivers Life Sentences in Nine-Year-Old Kidnapping and Murder Case

In a significant verdict, a court in Hisar has sentenced three individuals to life imprisonment for their involvement in a kidnapping and murder that occurred nearly nine years ago. The case, which has drawn considerable attention, saw the victim's wife, Savita alias Kavita, being acquitted by the court due to a lack of concrete evidence against her.

Court Proceedings and Sentencing Details

The court of additional sessions judge Amit Garg pronounced the judgment, imposing life imprisonment on the three convicts: Mahendra from Jakhod Khera village, Pawan from Dhingsara village, and Ramesh Chand, a resident of Fatehabad. In addition to the life term, each convict was fined Rs 1 lakh, underscoring the severity of their crimes.

According to district attorney Devendra Mittal, the tragic incident unfolded on January 6, 2017, when the victim, Roshan, left his home on a motorcycle, informing his family that he was heading out for work. He failed to return that night, causing immediate concern among his loved ones.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Crime

Initially, the family was misled into believing that Roshan had been involved in an accident and was admitted to a hospital in critical condition. He was later transferred to a private hospital in Hisar, where he remained unconscious for several days, battling for his life.

On January 13, 2017, Roshan regained consciousness and provided a harrowing account of his ordeal to his uncle and other family members. He revealed that he had been abducted near a vegetable market in the Bhattu area of Fatehabad district.

In his statement, Roshan alleged that the accused forced him into a vehicle, covered him with a blanket, and issued death threats. He was then taken to an isolated location where he was subjected to a brutal assault, resulting in him losing consciousness. Tragically, Roshan succumbed to his injuries on January 21 while still undergoing medical treatment.

Legal Implications and Acquittal

During his testimony, Roshan implicated his wife, Savita alias Kavita, as part of the conspiracy behind the kidnapping and murder. However, the court found insufficient evidence to convict her, leading to her acquittal. This aspect of the case highlights the challenges in proving conspiracy charges without substantial proof.

The sentencing marks a pivotal moment in the pursuit of justice for Roshan's family, bringing closure to a long-standing legal battle. The court's decision to impose both life imprisonment and financial penalties reflects a firm stance against such heinous crimes, emphasizing the importance of accountability in the criminal justice system.
