Details of the Incident

The prosecution stated that the attack occurred on September 9, 2024, in the Khamariya area of Jabalpur. Pooran Yadav and his brother Akhilesh were feeding cattle at their home when their neighbour Sandeep Yadav arrived wielding an axe. He began hurling abuses, angered by a quarrel earlier that morning over fetching water.

Escalation of Violence

Within minutes, Sandeep's brother Pradeep and their father Jagannath joined him, carrying lathis (wooden sticks). While Pooran managed to escape, Akhilesh was surrounded and assaulted repeatedly.
