The decisive order was issued on Saturday, a day after a police operation on Friday night led to the arrest of 12 individuals caught red-handed gambling at a local farmhouse. Dissatisfied with the circumstances that allowed such activities to flourish, SP Gautam directed that the Station House Officer (SHO) of RK Puram police station and the entire six-member District Special Team (DST) be attached to the police lines.
This attachment is a direct consequence of alleged negligence in their duties. The identified officials are SHO Sandeep Vishnoi, DST in-charge Pushpendra Banshiwal, and five other members of the DST squad.
Independent Inquiry Launched
Simultaneously, SP Gautam has ordered a formal inquiry into the incident. The investigation has been entrusted to Additional SP Niyati Sharma, who has been instructed to submit a comprehensive report within a strict deadline of three days.
The swift action underscores the administration's zero-tolerance policy towards illicit activities and potential complicity. SP Tejeshwani Gautam issued a stern warning, stating, "If gambling, betting, or illegal liquor activities are found to be taking place with the knowledge or connivance of the police, legal as well as strict disciplinary action will be taken against them."
