Police Drive Against Cyber-Enabled Crimes
Jhalawar Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar stated that this action was part of Rajasthan Police's ongoing drive against cyber-enabled crimes. He explained that the accused was operating through social media platforms and WhatsApp groups related to matrimonial alliances, where he concealed his identity and approached women under the false pretext of marriage. This case highlights the increasing threats in digital spaces targeting vulnerable individuals.
Details of the Complaint and Investigation
Police revealed that the case came to light on Wednesday after an unidentified victim submitted a confidential complaint at the Kotwali police station. The complaint alleged that the accused collected personal details of women from matrimonial groups, used fake names and photographs, and initiated conversations that later turned obscene. Investigations further uncovered that the accused allegedly induced women into sharing private photos and videos, thereby violating their privacy in a severe breach of trust.
Key findings from the investigation include:
- The accused created fake matrimonial profiles using fabricated identities and images of others to mislead victims.
- He targeted women through online platforms dedicated to marriage alliances, exploiting their search for companionship.
- Technical inputs were crucial in tracing and arresting the accused, showcasing the role of digital forensics in modern policing.
Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation
A case was initially registered at the Cyber Police Station in Jhalawar and later transferred to the Women Police Station for a more focused investigation. Police are continuing their efforts to identify more victims and examine the full extent of the accused's activities.
