Kolkata STF Seizes 12 Guns, Arrests 3 in Raids

In a significant crackdown on illegal arms, the Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police conducted coordinated raids across the city on Tuesday, leading to the recovery of a cache of weapons and multiple arrests.

Major Haul in Twin Operations

The police operation targeted two separate locations in the southern part of Kolkata. According to a senior officer, the raids resulted in the seizure of 12 firearms and a substantial quantity of ammunition. Simultaneously, three individuals were taken into custody in connection with the recoveries.

Strand Road Detention Leads to Discovery

The first breakthrough came in the Strand Road area. Police sources indicated that two men were observed acting suspiciously, which prompted officers to detain them. "Upon searching a large bag carried by the duo, we found a one-shotter firearm, a 7mm pistol, and at least 20 to 22 rounds of ammunition," the officer stated. The two men were subsequently placed under arrest.

Alipore Raid Nets Multiple Firearms

In a parallel raid conducted in the Alipore area, STF personnel apprehended another suspect. The police identified the arrested individual as Rajesh Kumar Sau. A search of his possession yielded a significant haul of 11 firearms, adding substantially to the total contraband recovered during the day's operations.

Investigation Underway

Following the arrests, the Kolkata Police have initiated a thorough interrogation process. "Three persons have been arrested. We have started questioning them," confirmed the officer. The investigation aims to uncover the source of the weapons, their intended destination, and any larger networks involved in the illicit arms trade. The successful raids underscore the STF's continued vigilance against organized crime and illegal weapon proliferation in the city.
