Kolkata Man Stabbed Near Sealdah Station Auto Stand, Police Investigate Old Rivalry
In a disturbing incident in Kolkata, a 43-year-old resident of Palta, Saikat Adhikary, was reportedly stabbed near the auto stand at Sealdah railway station on Thursday evening. The attack, which also involved verbal abuse and threats of dire consequences, has prompted the Entally Police Station to register a formal case.
Details of the Assault and Police Response
According to the complaint filed by Adhikary, he was standing near the auto stand when two individuals, identified as Avijit Gayen and Tinku Gayen, launched a sudden and violent assault. The police have indicated that an old rivalry between the parties is likely the primary motive behind this attack. An officer involved in the investigation stated, "An old rivalry could be the motive. It does not seem to be the fallout of a dispute over fares." This suggests that the incident was premeditated rather than a spontaneous altercation related to transportation services.
Medical Treatment and Aftermath
Following the stabbing, Adhikary was promptly taken to NRS Hospital for medical attention. He received necessary treatment and was later discharged, indicating that his injuries, while serious, were not life-threatening. The police are actively pursuing the accused based on the complaint and witness accounts to ensure justice is served.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about public safety in busy urban areas like Sealdah station, a major transportation hub in Kolkata. Authorities are urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help prevent such violent episodes in the future.
