Kochi Police Intensify Probe in Ernakulam Town Hall Murder

Kochi City Police have ramped up their investigation into a chilling murder case, issuing a public lookout notice for a key suspect after a young man's body was discovered in a deserted building. The grim find was made near the Ernakulam Town Hall on December 6, sending shockwaves through the area.

Body Found in Locked Building, Victim Identified

The case unfolded when an electrician arrived at an unoccupied house, which had been locked for several months, to check a wiring issue. Inside, he made the horrifying discovery of a body lying in a pool of blood. The deceased was later identified as Abhijith Bineesh, a 21-year-old from Kanjirappally.

Police identified Bineesh from a document found in his pockets and promptly informed his grieving family. An autopsy was conducted, and the body was handed over to his relatives. Initial investigations revealed that Bineesh often stayed away from home and spent time near the North overbridge area.

Police Zero In on a History-Sheeter from Kollam

The Central police station registered a case, initially as an unnatural death, but it has now been upgraded to a murder investigation. Through meticulous analysis of call data records and CCTV footage from the vicinity, the police have identified a prime suspect.

The force has issued a lookout notice for Muhammed Ali, a 26-year-old man from Kollam. Described as a history-sheeter with several criminal cases already against him—including charges of attempted murder and robbery—Ali has evaded capture. Police have released two separate photographs of Ali showcasing different looks to aid the public in recognition.

Despite extensive searches in Ernakulam, Kollam, and Alappuzha districts, authorities have been unable to trace his whereabouts. As part of the probe, officers have also collected statements from people who frequent the North overbridge area.

Unanswered Questions and an Intensifying Manhunt

While a suspect is now in focus, several critical questions remain unanswered. The police are still working to determine why Abhijith Bineesh was inside the locked building and what exactly transpired leading to his death.

The post-mortem examination revealed the violent nature of the crime, with the victim sustaining a deep wound on the back of his head and a fractured skull. The manhunt for Muhammed Ali is now a top priority for the Kochi police as they piece together the final moments of the young electrician's life and seek justice.
