Parents of KGMU Doctor Arrested in Lucknow for Role in Forced Conversion, Miscarriage
KGMU Doctor's Parents Held in Forced Conversion Case

In a significant development in a high-profile case, Lucknow police on Monday arrested the elderly parents of a fugitive doctor from King George's Medical University (KGMU). The parents are accused of playing a central role in the alleged forced religious conversion and subsequent miscarriage of two medical students.

Key Arrests in Thakurganj Flat

Salimuddin (70) and his wife Khateeja (67) were taken into custody from a rented apartment in the city's Thakurganj locality. Their son, Dr. Rameezuddin (38), a resident doctor at KGMU, remains at large. The police action follows detailed investigations into complaints filed by two women, one from KGMU and another from a medical college in Agra.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishwajeet Srivastava stated that the elderly couple was actively involved in the incidents leading to the conversion and miscarriage of both survivors. The case has sent shockwaves through the medical community in Uttar Pradesh.

Survivors' Harrowing Testimonies Before Magistrate

According to a police officer closely associated with the probe, both women have provided detailed written statements before a magistrate. Their testimonies allege that they were not only exploited by the doctor but also by his parents.

The survivors have testified to being forcibly converted, sexually exploited, and subjected to miscarriage, with the parents' involvement being explicitly mentioned. The first complaint was registered on December 23, 2025, by the KGMU student. She alleged that a senior doctor developed a physical relationship with her under the false promise of marriage, later forced her to terminate a pregnancy, and pressured her for religious conversion.

Subsequently, the medical student from Agra came forward with similar allegations of sexual assault, forced conversion, and miscarriage against the same doctor.

Increased Reward and Ongoing Manhunt

With the primary accused still absconding, the Lucknow police have intensified their search. The cash reward for information leading to Dr. Rameezuddin's arrest was doubled on Monday. Initially set at Rs 25,000, the bounty has now been increased to Rs 50,000.

The arrests mark a crucial turn in the case, highlighting the alleged extent of the family's involvement. Investigations are ongoing to uncover further details and to apprehend the main accused. The police are examining all evidence and statements meticulously to build a strong legal case.
