Kerala Police Officers Association Urges Expansion of Police Infrastructure in Ernakulam Rural
The Kerala Police Officers Association (KPOA) for Ernakulam Rural has formally adopted a resolution advocating for the establishment of additional police stations across the district. This move aims to bolster public safety, streamline law enforcement operations, and address emerging criminal challenges effectively.
Enhanced Security for Critical Infrastructure
In a significant development, the resolution emphasizes the urgent need for a new police station centered around Bhoothathankettu. This facility is deemed crucial to safeguard the Idamalayar and Bhoothathankettu dams, which are vital infrastructure assets. Additionally, it would provide more accessible and efficient policing services to the residents of Vadattupara within the Kuttampuzha panchayat, ensuring their security and well-being.
Alleviating Workload in Key Areas
To address the overwhelming caseloads faced by existing police stations, the association has proposed strategic expansions. Specifically, a police station should be set up around Pezhakkappilly to reduce the operational burden on stations in Muvattupuzha, Kunnathunadu, Perumbavoor, Kuruppampady, and Kothamangalam. Furthermore, to ease the duty pressures on Njarakkal and Munambam police stations, the resolution calls for the creation of a station centered in Edavanakkad, thereby improving response times and service delivery in these regions.
Combating Drug-Related Crimes
In response to the alarming rise in drug cases, the KPOA has put forward a comprehensive proposal. The resolution demands the establishment of NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) police stations and special courts in every district. This initiative is designed to ensure timely investigations and the swift prosecution of offenders, thereby strengthening the legal framework against drug trafficking and abuse.
Conference Highlights and Leadership
The resolution was passed during a conference held at the Kothamangalam Kala auditorium, which saw the participation of key police officials. The event was inaugurated by Range DIG Arul R B Krishna, with District Police Chief K S Sudarshan serving as the chief guest. District President Anil Kumar T Meppillil presided over the proceedings, underscoring the collective commitment to enhancing police infrastructure and public safety in Ernakulam Rural.
