Kerala Police Arrest Two Men with MDMA in Ernakulam, Drugs Hidden in Two-Wheeler
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Ernakulam rural police arrested two individuals on Saturday for possession of MDMA. The operation led to the seizure of 1.3 grams of the illicit substance, which was cleverly concealed within a specially designed compartment of a two-wheeler.
Details of the Arrested Individuals
The arrested persons have been identified as Jineesh Hariyappan, aged 30, originally from Kottayam, and Aftab Firoz, aged 25, hailing from Kozhikode. Hariyappan was residing in North Paravur, while Firoz was staying on a rental basis in Kombara at the time of the arrest.
Police Investigation and Drug Trafficking Plan
According to officials from the Aluva police station, the accused had devised a plan to sell the MDMA to customers in and around the Aluva region. The drugs were strategically hidden in a custom-built compartment of a two-wheeler, highlighting the sophisticated methods employed by traffickers to evade detection.
The investigation was spearheaded by a dedicated team that included Inspector G P Manu Raj, Sub-Inspectors Maraya Nandakumar and Eldo Paul, Assistant Sub-Inspector Varghese, and Civil Police Officers Afsal, Mahinsha Abubakar, Muhammad Ameer, and Siraj. Their coordinated efforts were crucial in apprehending the suspects and securing the evidence.
Legal Proceedings and Custody
Following their arrest, Jineesh Hariyappan and Aftab Firoz were presented before the court. The judicial authority remanded both individuals into judicial custody, pending further legal proceedings.
