Kerala Man Shoots Neighbor Dead in Revenge for Father's Murder
In a shocking incident of revenge, a 57-year-old man shot and killed his neighbor in Kalady, Kerala, on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Kilukkan Jose, 50, a resident of Manjapra.
Accused Surrenders to Police After Shooting
Soon after the incident, the accused, Kalaparambil Pauly, who is a retired Border Security Force (BSF) constable, surrendered at the Ayyampuzha police station. The shooting occurred in Manjapra, an area on the border between the Kalady and Ayyampuzha police stations.
Ayyampuzha police have registered a case and stated that it will be handed over to Kalady police for further investigation. Kalady police revealed that Pauly was employed by a security agency responsible for transferring money to banks and had obtained a gun license legally.
Details of the Fatal Shooting
Pauly used his licensed firearm to shoot Jose, who was taking a bath in a canal in Manjapra at the time. The attack was reportedly motivated by a long-standing vendetta stemming from a previous murder.
Background of the Feud
The roots of this violent act trace back seven years, when Pauly's father, Kalaparambil Jose, was killed by Kilukkan Jose following a dispute. Jose had struck Pauly's father on the head with a wooden log, resulting in his death.
Recently, a lower court acquitted Kilukkan Jose in the case due to insufficient evidence. This legal outcome appears to have escalated tensions between the two men.
Escalation Leading to the Shooting
After the acquittal, Pauly and Jose engaged in multiple arguments, indicating a buildup of animosity. The situation culminated in the fatal shooting on Monday, as Pauly took matters into his own hands to avenge his father's death.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, examining the circumstances and potential motives behind this act of revenge.
