The matter came to light after Swatantra Kumar Agrawal, a resident of Kidwai Nagar in Kanpur, filed a formal complaint with Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal. He claimed to have viewed the video on March 30, which was uploaded on March 28, and found the YouTuber's use of objectionable language and serious allegations against the late leader to be highly offensive.

Following the complaint, authorities at the cyber police station in Kanpur have registered a case under the Information Technology (IT) Act. Satish Yadav, the in-charge of the cyber police station, confirmed that the report was filed on the direct orders of Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal.
