Kanpur Police Apprehend Notorious Drug Trafficker in Night Operation
In a significant crackdown on narcotics, the Chakeri police in Kanpur successfully arrested a known drug trafficker, Ankit Singh Chauhan, also known as Ankit Tuttal, during a late-night operation on Monday. Acting on a tip-off, police officials from the Lalbangla Police out-post, led by in-charge Ajay Kumar and Sub-Inspector Kuldeep, were conducting routine checks within the limits of Chakeri police station. During this operation, they spotted a youth on a motorcycle attempting to flee the scene. After a brief chase, the police managed to apprehend him, who was later identified as Ankit Singh Chauhan.
Upon searching him, the authorities recovered 101.7 grams of THC Tetrahydrocannabinol Dronabinol, commonly referred to as American marijuana, along with 1 gram of charas. These substances are classified under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, highlighting the severity of the offense.

DCP Crime Shravan Kumar Singh and ADCP Sumit Ramteke revealed on Tuesday that Ankit Singh Chauhan has a lengthy criminal record. Seventeen serious cases have been registered against him at various police stations, including Chakeri, Barra, and Panki. These cases encompass a range of charges:

- Offenses under the Arms Act
- Attempt to murder
