The accused, identified as Rajat Kashyap, was reportedly in an inebriated state when he attacked his wife, Mithilesh, with a vasula (a wood-shaving chisel). According to police reports, the couple had been married for approximately nine years and frequently quarreled due to Rajat's persistent liquor addiction.

On the fateful Wednesday night, Rajat returned home after consuming liquor, leading to another heated argument with Mithilesh. In a fit of rage, he allegedly used the chisel to assault her, resulting in her immediate death at the scene.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Upon being informed of the incident, personnel from the Derapur police station arrived at the location on Thursday morning to initiate a thorough investigation. Circle Officer Rajeev Sirohi confirmed that the accused has been arrested and that the victim's body has been sent for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
