A devastating road accident in Kanpur early Tuesday morning claimed the life of a young vegetable vendor and left his uncle seriously injured. The tragedy occurred when a speeding dumper rammed into their e-rickshaw, which was loaded with chillies for the market.
The Fatal Collision Near Ramganga Canal
The incident took place in the area under the Bidhnu police station. According to police reports, the e-rickshaw was on its way from Kumhediya village to the Naubasta market. The dumper, moving at high speed, struck the three-wheeler from behind near the Ramganga canal. The impact was so severe that the e-rickshaw lost control and overturned on the spot.
Victims and Immediate Aftermath
The deceased has been identified as Suraj Gautam, a 26-year-old resident of Kumhediya village in Bidhnu. He was in the vegetable business and is survived by his wife, Sandhya, and their two young daughters. His uncle, who was accompanying him, sustained serious injuries, including a broken hand. He was referred to in the report as youthjeet.
Police personnel rushed to the scene following the accident. Suraj Gautam was pronounced dead at the site. The injured uncle was promptly taken to LLR Hospital for medical treatment. To restore normal traffic flow, authorities removed the overturned e-rickshaw from the road. The family members of the victims were also informed about the tragic event.
Police Investigation and Action Promised
Bidhnu police station in-charge Tej Bahadur Singh provided details of the case. He stated that the dumper was speeding, which led to the fatal collision from the rear. The police have assured that a formal report will be registered based on the complaint filed by the grieving family. Appropriate legal action will be taken against the responsible parties following the investigation.
This incident has once again highlighted the grave dangers posed by speeding heavy vehicles on roads shared with smaller, vulnerable vehicles like e-rickshaws. The local community in Bidhnu is mourning the loss of the young businessman whose life was cut short on a routine trip to the market.
