Kandhamal Police Recover 10 Country-Made Guns from Forests

Berhampur: Acting on a tip-off, police recovered 10 country-made guns from two locations in the forest areas of Kandhamal district on Sunday. This brings the total number of seized arms to 12 in the last three days.

Recovery Details

While seven country-made firearms were seized from the Ladargaon forest area under Tumudibandha police station limits, three were recovered from the Partamaha jungle in Daringbadi, said Shubham Bhosale, Baliguda subdivisional police officer (SDPO), on Monday. No arrests have been made in connection with the recovery.

Possible Motives

Police suspect that miscreants may have concealed the firearms in the jungle for illegal hunting and other unlawful activities. "We have initiated legal actions and are trying to identify the people involved," said the SDPO. He added that patrolling has been intensified in the forest areas following the shooting death of a 33-year-old man by two miscreants in a forest under Belaghar police station limits on Friday.
