Security Intensified at Jind Junction After Punjab Railway Blast Threat
In response to a recent blast on a railway track near Sirhind in Punjab, authorities have ramped up security measures at Jind Junction. On Saturday, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) launched a joint search operation to ensure safety and prevent any potential threats.
Joint Inspection and Heightened Vigilance
Inspector Jeet Singh, the GRP station in-charge, and Kuldeep Yadav, the RPF station in-charge, led the operation. They reported that railway tracks, trains, and passengers' luggage were thoroughly inspected during the search. No suspicious items were discovered, but both teams emphasized that they remain on high alert due to the ongoing security concerns.
The inspection was conducted following directives from senior officials after the Punjab railway track blast. Police personnel were actively monitoring all movements near the railway junction and tracks in the area to detect any unusual activities.
Public Cooperation and Republic Day Preparations
Passengers have been urged to immediately inform the police if they notice any illegal items or suspicious persons on trains. This appeal is part of broader security arrangements in anticipation of Republic Day, with police operating in full alert mode. Consequently, security at Jind Junction has been tightened, and surveillance has been increased to curb any illegal activities.
Kuldeep Singh, the Superintendent of Police in Jind, informed that elaborate arrangements have been made to maintain law and order in the district. These measures include continuous inspections and enhanced monitoring to ensure public safety.
Background of Security Threats
The heightened security comes in the wake of multiple threats. A couple of days prior, the Jind sessions judge received an email threatening a bomb blast, prompting the district police to go on alert mode. In response, all hotels and public places are being checked thoroughly, and raids are being conducted at various locations to preempt any security breaches.
This proactive approach underscores the authorities' commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure and public spaces, especially during sensitive periods like Republic Day celebrations.
